Hello readers,

Look at my shiny new book-icon! I also changed the background of the community. I will probably be fiddling with the look a little more this weekend:) In the mean time you are invited to decorate this place with bookreviews!

To accompany my new icon, I am pimping The Green Flower Trilogy by Floortje Zwigtman. Provided below is a link to download an english excerpt of the first book. I would love to know what you think of it and if you are intrigued enough to want more. I'm also curious how you feel about the translation.
I give the original Dutch novels a 9/10 (Target audience is 14+/Young Adults)

Part 1: Schijnbewegingen by Floortje Zwigtman (Tricks Of The Trade*)
Summary: Adrian Mayfield is born in the poor East End of Victorian London, the son of a pub landlord and a seamstress. However, a different career lies in store for him.
It’s not a scenario that the street-hardened lad could have envisaged: a wealthy older gentleman falls in love with him and takes him home. Adrian is introduced into the flamboyant circle of Oscar Wilde and finds work as an artist’s model. Of course the good life doesn't last... )

The books are only available in Dutch, but the rights have already been sold to Germany and Danmark, so we can only hope they will some day be translated in English as well... The Foundation For The Production And Translation Of Dutch Literature provides dossiers of popular Dutch books to interest foreign publishers. Link behind the cut! )

Floortje Zwigtmans is still doing research for the final book. It will be published in February 2009 February 2010(!). *bites nails* I will be rereading the first two books until then.
