I've posted a very long winded review in my journal. Instead of a 'normal' review I'm comparing two books and babble along about them. Since most of the people on my flist are also members of this community, I will not crosspost this, but simply link you to my journal.

Book 1 is Cicero's De Oratore (Rating: 7/10)
book 2 is Stephen Fry's The Ode Less Traveled (Rating 8/10)

Excerpts and extensive babbling about both authors

If you've never heard of Stephen Fry I urge you to try one of his novels. Any one of his books will convince you he is an awesome writer and I'm sure will make you want to read more. But if you don't know where to start I vote for 'Making History', a perfect novel about what could have happened if historical events had been different. Go. Read!

Hello fellow booklovers,

I've only done this kind of thing by mail so far, but I figured this community was the place to try and see if we can organize some online synchronized reading.
It's really easy: everyone reads the same book and comes together to share thoughts about it. To avoid spoilers and make it possible for everyone to read at their own pace, I suggest we put up posts per chapter.

No pressure, just an opportunity to talk or squee about a book while you are reading it.

Since I know of at least two of you who own this book (three including me;) I hereby invite everyone to (re)read..... *drumroll*...

A Heartbreaking Work Of Staggering Genius by Dave Eggers

Comment if you want to join, scream if you need to get a copy of the book first. We'll wait:) I will post specifics next week or sooner if everyone is ready to go.
